Interplanetary Shock (or CME Arrival)
Catalog: M2M_CATALOG
Location: Earth
Event Time: 2022-07-03T07:01Z ( DSCOVR: PLASMAG )
All Detecting Spacecrafts:
DSCOVR: PLASMAG
ACE: SWEPAM
ACE: MAG
Activity ID: 2022-07-03T07:01:00-IPS-001 (version 5)
Quality of ICME Signature: 0 (weak signatures)
Note: Sudden increase of total magnetic field from 4 to 8 nT (eventually rising to over 12 nT), accompanied by an increase in ion density (which was already high since last night) to over 45 particles/cm^3 (according to DSCOVR). Bz remained positive throughout this period of time. A potential start of the flux rope can be 2022-07-03T19:20Z when the rotation of magnetic field components starts and density drops below 5 particles per cm^3. It is a mixed signature, possibly impacted by a very brief high speed stream (possibly from a very small southern CH at the central meridian on 2022-06-30) which likely overtakes the CME from 2022-07-03T23:00Z, when the density starts to increase.
